Permitted Activities in FLCA
Hiking, cross-country skiing, ice skating, snowshoeing, fishing, bird watching, and
non-motorized boating (canoeing and kayaking) are allowed in the Conservation
Area from dawn to dusk.
Conservation Area Regulations
- Dogs must be kept on leash pursuant to City of Northampton law (Ch. 128; Art. 2; Sec. 9). Please pick up dog waste. Mutt Mitts are available at the North Farms Road, Cooke Avenue, and Coles Meadow Rd. entrances.
- Fires, camping, alcoholic beverages, and all motorized vehicles (including boats) are prohibited. Remove all plant material from boats prior to launching to prevent the spread of invasive species.
- All wildlife including plants and flowers are protected pursuant to law – please don’t disturb, feed, or pick them.
- Please stay on designated blazed trails (blue, white, red, and yellow) within the Conservation Area. Wetlands are particularly sensitive to off-trail use. Please don’t use the trails on private property.
- Hunting is not permitted anywhere in the Conservation Area.
- There are no trash cans or toilet facilities at FLCA. If you bring it in, please pack it out.
